What if Mark Renton was living in the year 2025? The main character of the legendary 90s film Trainspotting wasn’t exactly finding his true calling from the messages that the modern society of the time was offering as goals worth pursuing. Hence the Choose Life monologue:
The more I listen to Microsoft pitch me the wonders of modern AI world, the more I feel like Renton. So, one morning, I wasn’t feeling particularly motivated to start clicking around the Power Automate editor. Especially since I was mostly having to ask ChatGPT for instructions on what expressions I should be pasting into which part of the flow UI. Knowing that the built-in Copilot in Power Automate was not only useless at best but destructive at worst.
I chose to do something else. Which was to recreate the Choose Life monologue and its poster in a way that addresses the desperation us human beings feel when trying to get through our working days in 2025. This was the result of me and ChatGPT collaborating on the theme:

Promptspotting poster - in the style of the iconic “Choose Life” poster for Trainspotting.
Let me tell you, this felt a lot more empowering than trying to squeeze more productivity out of the day by reading less & writing less and hoping Copilot would do that part of my life.
There’s an ominous ending to the original monologue that sets the scene for what’s about to happen in the Trainspotting movie(s). Even when reading this modern version of it, I can’t help but hearing the defiant voice of Ewan McGregor:
I chose not to choose Copilot. I chose something else.
